Dream Crusher by Earthquaker Devices Effect Pedal Demo- Fuzz Face Clone

Humbuckers start at the 9:00 minute mark
It’s not your every day fuzz face clone! It’s no secret that I do love me an Earthquaker pedal… but I don’t normally go for the fuzz face types. This one sounds different to me though. It’s a little darker and more musical than most. The notes have a nice clarity to them and the chords, while fuzzy, are still nicely defined. It also never gets too out of control, which is perfect for those of you that want a fuzz that won’t get away from you. It also sounds particularly nice on the neck pickup for some kicking classic fuzz leads. To be honest, I liked it better with single coils, but I didn’t think it sounded bad with the humbuckers. It actually sounds great on both, which is a testament to just how great this pedal is. And you all know I’m a germanium girl….. so having two NOS military spec germanium trannies in this one makes me a happy camper. Another awesome pedal from Earthquaker….. oh and being that they are so affordable makes them even more appealing to me
Happy Halloween!!!
Here is a blurb from the Earthquaker website:
The Dream Crusher fuzz device has been added to the line for good! This is our take on the classic germanium fuzz face circuit. Made with 2 NOS Mil Spec Germanium transistors, hand selected and tested finest of high gains. Yep, only the finest. Touch sensitive, overdrive-like and great definition from noon back, crushing grinding distortion through blown out and overloaded fuzz at it’s extreme. Cleans up well with the volume of the guitar and works great with all pick up configurations and styles. Even though it only has two controls, you’ll find a lot of different tones and character inside. We’ve never played another like it.
Gear used:
KLH custom relics fuzzcaster
Reverend Guitars Warhawk HBII
Visual Sound Workhorse Stallion combo
Sennheiser e906
Seafoam Coily Bullet Cable

1960′s technology in 2011. And it sounds like a…… Fuzz Face. A category should be created….JAFF….”just another fuzz face”. Is it time to move on from these twitchy, glitchy temperature sensitive dinosaurs? Then we could move on to the Jaff Star rating of all these re-hashed re-imaginings of this overdone effect. Time to move on.
